Performing with David Sanborn
The music of Joey DeFrancesco, an important force in the revival of the Hammond B-3 organ as a jazz instrument, runs the gamut from soul-jazz and bluesy grooves à la Jimmy Smith to hard bop to the more advanced modal style of Coltrane disciple Larry Young. Joey's eclectic style is evident on his latest release, Finger Poppin - a celebration of songs written by Horace Silver.

The Doobie Brothers
Blues Festival
Sunday, September 12
Having sold over 30 million albums, The Doobie Brothers are one of the most popular American bands of the '70s that evolved from a mellow, post-hippie boogie band to a slick, soul-inflected pop band by the end of the decade. Along the way, the group racked up a string of gold and platinum albums in the U.S., along with a number of radio hits like "Listen to the Music," "Black Water," and "China Grove." Production of their long awaited studio album is finally nearing completion. The CD will be accompanied by a DVD that represents the band's 40 year history.

Jimmie Vaughan
Blues Festival
Sunday, September 12th
Performing with the Tilt-A-Whirl Band featuring Lou Ann Barton
When Jimmie Vaughan says 'I have the best job in the world,' he isn’t kidding. For more than four decades, the guitar-slinging Texan legend has been earning his living rockin' the blues, and nothing makes the man happier. But now, Vaughan is even more excited about his gig than usual—for his newest release he's consulted the vast blues encyclopedia that resides deep inside of his head and come up with a nearly all-covers set best described by its unambiguous title: Blues, Ballads and Favorites.

Lou Ann Barton
Blues Festival
Sunday, September 12th
Performing with Jimmie Vaughan and the Tilt-A-Whirl Band
Although she doesn't tour nearly as much as she probably could, Austin-based vocalist Lou Ann Barton is one of the finest purveyors of raw, unadulterated roadhouse blues from the female gender that you'll ever hear. Like Delbert McClinton, she can belt out a lyric so that she can be heard over a two-guitar band with horns.

Charlie Musselwhite
Blues Festival
Sunday, September 12th
'Blues is tough,' Charlie Musselwhite explains. He could just as easily be talking about himself. Described by the San Jose Mercury News as, "the second coming of Led Zeppelin, with Tom Waits on vocals," Charlie and his band embody the direct and timeless power of the blues. Charlie continues to deliver that hi-wattage intensity on stage, testifying to the truth of living in real America night in and night out.
